GI 44-45 is an established group of living historians, who portray the American soldier of WW2.

The group was formed in October 2006, and comprises of veterans from the re-enacting community as well as newcomers to the hobby. The young and not-so-young (!) members in the group aspire to portraying the GI of WW2 in various ways.If you are considering joining a living history group, then GI44-45 are the group for you. We are able to offer interested parties the chance to attend events with us, without having to lay out too much money as we can provide spare uniforms and equipment.

We participate in private tactical events, where we briefly endeavour to eat, sleep and live the life of the World War II GI.
We also attend Public shows, giving us the opportunity to display a broad spectrum of WWII memorabilia, and to educate the Public. We also participate in retracing the footsteps of the Soldiers who served in WWII, by visiting the battlefields of Europe. A testimony to our professionalism and reputation is that we have been able to work with some of the top Living history groups in the country.

Recently we featured in a National Geographic production about the Battle of the Bulge entitled "Generals at war".
GI44-45 were approached by the BBC in the summer when some of its members took one of the last ever passenger flights in a C47 Dakota, wearing period uniform.

And in the winter we teamed up with the Living History Assocation to re-visit Bastogne and take part in a commerative march, as a result of which some our members featured in the the Mail on Sunday. Click here to read the Article about our Bastogne March .

If you are looking for a living history group to display at your event, or to utilise for Film, TV or other medium, please contact us via the "Contact" page. We are able to offer you a comprehensive display of period equipment, Tentage, weapons and personal items that will interest and educate the Public. Our fleet of vehicles also includes Two Jeeps and a Dodge Weapons Carrier.

We portray a variety of living history impressions which include Paratroopers of the 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne, and our favoured Infantry impression is the 28th Infantry Division. Known as the "Bloody Buckets" they were founded in Pennsylvania, and served in Normandy, The battle of the Bulge and Hurtgen forest of Germany. In addition to these impressions we will gladly re-badge to suit the impression we are trying to recreate, which have included Rangers, 82nd Airborne Division, and the 1st Infantry Division, "The Big Red One".

The aims for the Club are:

  • To organise and attend various WW2 re-enactment events.
  • To engage in high quality living history.
  • To educate the public.
  • To keep alive the memory of all those who made sacrifices during WW2.

GI 44-45 is always on the lookout for keen people who are interested in joining the unit. If you think that you would like to get involved in what we do, then please feel free to contact us. We will gladly offer you help and guidance in getting started in the fantastic hobby of WW2 re-enactment.
